Herb Depot in Independence was recently targeted by thieves who broke in and stole around $100,000 worth of products in just five minutes. Owner Reed Smith was shocked to find out about the robbery the next morning after seeing security footage of the break-in. The thieves, driving a Ford F-150 King Ranch Edition, were described as a two-man team who were very organized in their approach. Despite the setback, Smith hopes that his insurance will cover some of the losses, but he anticipates a major impact on his business. The safe at Herb Depot was left open, and Smith admitted his mistake in not closing it. He emphasized the importance of taking precautions to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. The Independence Police Department did not respond to queries about the burglary, leaving Smith and the community on edge. Smith urged the perpetrators to enjoy the stolen goods momentarily, as he remains hopeful that justice will be served. The incident serves as a cautionary tale for businesses in the area to be vigilant and secure their premises to avoid falling prey to similar crimes.
