A Kansas City Police Department motorcycle officer remains in critical but stable condition after being hit by a driver on October 16. The officer was helped by employees of 333 Rent, with one pressing the emergency button on his radio to call for help. The administrative assistant heard the crash and went outside with the maintenance coordinator to assist. He turned off the driver’s car and pressed buttons on the officer’s radio to get help. Thanks to his quick actions, officers arrived at the scene within 45 seconds. The officer who was hit is a 10-year veteran of the KCPD and has been in the traffic unit for a year. KCPD Chief Stacey Graves commended the civilian for helping the officer during the incident. The crash occurred at around 9:40 a.m., and the civilian’s quick thinking potentially saved the officer’s life. The KCPD is investigating the incident, and the community is rallying around the injured officer for a quick and full recovery.
