Business owners and managers in the River Market area of Kansas City, Missouri, are dealing with the aftermath of five overnight break-ins. The Kansas City police are investigating these incidents, which are believed to be related. Three businesses, including Freestyle Poke, were broken into, resulting in stolen cash drawers with $200 inside. Other businesses affected were Bo’s Kitchen and Brown and Loe.
Marteau Brown, a glass installer in Kansas City, shared that commercial break-ins are a constant occurrence, with him having to replace windows on a weekly basis. Additionally, there was a report of shots being fired near 4th and Wyandotte, but no injuries were reported.
One business owner, Camryn Tomlinson, expresses her shock and frustration at the break-ins, emphasizing the impact on family-owned businesses in the community. She calls for an end to the break-ins that are disrupting the sense of security in the area.
Kansas City Police Department is actively investigating the incidents, reviewing surveillance footage to identify the perpetrators.
