Former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney appeared on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” to issue a series of warnings about the potential consequences of another Trump administration. She emphasized that Trump believes he is immune from consequences once in office and would not respect court rulings, leading to a disregard for the rule of law. Cheney also supported retired Gen. Mark Milley’s characterization of Trump as “a fascist to the core.” She criticized Trump’s behavior during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and his false statements about aid to hurricane-stricken areas, calling him “cruel” and “unfit.” Cheney warned that a future Trump administration would bring erratic foreign policy due to his embrace of tyrants.
Despite previous disagreements with Vice President Kamala Harris, Cheney endorsed her and campaigned with her, citing her dedication to public service and contrasting her with the chaotic and depraved leadership she believes Trump would bring. Cheney also criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson for claiming there was a peaceful transfer of power in 2020, pointing to the Jan. 6 riot as evidence to the contrary. She expressed concern about Johnson’s alignment with Trump and emphasized the importance of preventing Republicans from regaining the majority in the House in 2025 to avoid potential election challenges.
