Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, released a summary of her medical records which showed that she is a healthy individual with a medical history of seasonal allergies and urticaria, which is treated with over-the-counter medication and allergen immunotherapy. Her physician stated that she has never experienced severe symptoms related to these conditions. She maintains a healthy diet, engages in regular exercise, drinks alcohol in moderation, and does not use tobacco products. The report concluded that she has the physical and mental resiliency required for the duties of the Presidency.
This is the first time Harris has made her medical records public, as presidential candidates typically do. In contrast, former President Donald Trump, now 78, pledged to release his medical records but has yet to do so. Trump’s most recent medical report was a brief letter stating he was in excellent health, lacking specifics. Trump frequently attacked Biden over his age during the election, but now Harris is turning that focus on him in her campaign, releasing an ad questioning what would happen if he became incapacitated as President. The ad shows footage of Trump appearing to slur his words and a Fox News host commenting on his performance. Harris hopes to shift the narrative away from concerns about her own age, 59, and focus on Trump’s fitness for office.
