A Belton business is rallying behind a coworker whose 5-year-old daughter was severely injured in a dog attack in Independence. The Appliance Care Company, where the father, Thomas, works, has set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses for the little girl, Aletha.
The attack left Aletha with a fractured skull, broken collarbone, broken rib, and in a medically induced coma. Her father is described as devastated, and his coworkers are stepping up to support him during this difficult time. The team at The Appliance Care Company considers each other family and are doing everything they can to help Thomas and his daughter.
The dog that attacked Aletha belongs to a neighbor and jumped the fence to get into their yard. Aletha was playing in the backyard while her mother was on the porch when the incident occurred. The dog owner was not present at the time of the attack, and police are working to identify the breed of the dog.
The family is asking for prayers for Aletha’s recovery, as she remains in the hospital fighting for her life. While the investigation continues, the dog is currently at the Animal Control Facility, and the owner could potentially face penalties for the attack. The community is coming together to support Thomas and his family during this challenging time.
