Jordi Zonneveld, a former oil and gas industry executive, made a significant career shift to help combat climate change and create a cleaner world for his three daughters. Working in the oil and gas industry for several years, Zonneveld realized the importance of transitioning away from fossil fuels after the industry faced challenges in 2015 due to falling oil prices. Motivated by the desire to leave a better world for his children, Zonneveld transitioned his company, Frames Group, towards green hydrogen production, a clean energy alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
By focusing on green hydrogen production, Zonneveld aimed to reduce emissions that contribute to global warming and pave the way for a cleaner energy future. His vision caught the attention of Plug Power, a clean energy company focused on hydrogen and fuel cells, who acquired Frames Group in 2021. Now, Plug Power and Zonneveld’s team are working towards producing over 1,000 tons per day of green hydrogen globally within the decade.
Despite facing challenges and volatility in the stock market, Plug Power has secured big customers like Amazon and received support from the Biden administration in the form of tax credits for clean hydrogen production. With a growing focus on clean energy and hydrogen technology, Zonneveld’s leadership has been instrumental in driving the transition towards a more sustainable future.
As a father of three daughters, Zonneveld’s decision to pivot towards green hydrogen production is driven by his commitment to creating a better world for future generations. By making a change in his career path and embracing clean energy technologies, Zonneveld hopes to inspire others and leave a positive impact on the environment for his children and future generations.
