Twin sisters from Kansas City, Missouri, have been charged with accessory to vehicle hijacking with a deadly weapon following an alleged armed carjacking that occurred on Tuesday night in Belton. The 19-year-old sisters, Rodnae Gorham and Rodneysha Gorham, are currently being held without bond in Cass County.
The incident occurred on Interstate 49 when the suspects rear-ended a Dodge Charger with their Kia and followed the victim to a stop near an entrance ramp. The victim reported that one sister apologized for the crash while the other sister, along with an unidentified man, threatened her with a handgun and stole her car. The victim’s GPS tracking system led police to the stolen car parked in Kansas City, where the suspects were arrested after a pursuit.
According to court documents, Rodnae admitted to driving the Kia as part of the carjacking plan, claiming the unnamed man was the mastermind behind the crime. Rodneysha gave an inconsistent statement but ultimately admitted to being involved in the carjacking.
The third suspect, the unidentified man, has not been apprehended. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed. Court dates for the Gorham sisters have not been set yet.
Belton police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they work to bring all involved parties to justice.
