Local Kansas City icon, “KC Superman” aka Michael Wheeler, has been banned for life from the Westport district after a series of trespassing incidents led to his incarceration. The 73-year-old evangelist, known for spreading love and unity with his message, gained fame for his running antics and was honored with a mural in 2017. However, legal troubles began when Wheeler transitioned from wearing a cape to carrying a cross.
Wheeler served two days of a reduced four-day jail sentence earlier this month but is now facing two new trespassing charges. Despite his banishment from Westport, Wheeler continues to visit, claiming his rights are being violated. KC Superman asserts that he is being unfairly targeted due to his religious expression and is pleading for judicial understanding and compassion.
The Westport Business League denies restricting religious expression but Wheeler believes his ban stems from carrying a cross. While there is some confusion over the exact details surrounding his banishment, Wheeler remains steadfast in his commitment to spreading his message of love and unity.
Wheeler is scheduled to appear in court on October 17 and November 6 for the new charges. The larger-than-life figure is determined to continue fighting against what he sees as unjust treatment and to uphold his belief in the power of love and unity. Despite the challenges he faces, Wheeler is resolute in his mission to shine a light on the world.
