A tragic weekend crash in Lenexa, Kansas has led to a California man, Vincente F. Perez, facing four charges, including second-degree murder. The crash, which occurred near the intersection of College Boulevard and Lackman Road, resulted in the death of 71-year-old Susan Cameron and injury to a 74-year-old man. Lenexa police stated that Perez, driving drunk in a Subaru WRX, rear-ended a Nissan Altima that Cameron was a passenger in, causing both vehicles to leave the road. Perez was hospitalized, discharged, and then taken into custody on Saturday night, where he faces charges of second-degree murder, DUI, transporting an open container of alcohol, and driving with a suspended license. His bond is set at $750,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday afternoon. The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office filed the charges against Perez on Monday. The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the impact it can have on innocent lives. Police are continuing to investigate the crash and urge drivers to never get behind the wheel while under the influence.
