The Kansas Farm Bureau’s political action committee has made the historic decision to endorse Democratic U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids for reelection in the 3rd District of northeast Kansas. This marks the first time the organization’s PAC has supported Davids, who has dedicated herself to building relationships with agriculture interests in her district. The Farm Bureau president praised Davids for seeking input from farmers and ranchers and expressed confidence in her ability to support the agricultural economy.
Davids, who is completing her third term in Congress, is running against Republican Prasanth Reddy and Libertarian Steve Roberts in the upcoming November election. She joined the House Agriculture Committee in 2022 after the district’s boundaries were expanded to include more counties with a significant agricultural presence.
In response to the endorsement, Reddy criticized Davids for voting against a GOP-sponsored version of the Farm Bill, calling it a betrayal of Kansas farmers and ranchers. However, Davids has emphasized her commitment to ensuring that the voices of farmers and ranchers are heard in Washington.
The Farm Bureau PAC, known as VOTE FBF, has a history of endorsing successful candidates, with a 90% success rate since its inception in 1993. Davids, along with former U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts, has advocated for passing a bipartisan Farm Bill to support U.S. agriculture, with the existing law set to expire in 2023. With negotiations ongoing, Davids and other lawmakers are working to overcome partisan disputes and provide support for the agricultural community in Kansas.
