Local women in the Kansas City area are gearing up to improve their football knowledge with the upcoming “Let’s Talk Football” event hosted by WIN for KC and a local talent management agency this Sunday at Chicken N Pickle in Overland Park. The event aims to empower women to feel comfortable and confident discussing the sport, encouraging them to find their voice in conversations about football. Amanda Carlo, Founder and CEO of Gold Griff Athlete Agency, saw the need for such an event after feeling unable to contribute in sports conversations despite her background working with the Chiefs.
The event is open to women and girls ages 8 and up, providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for them to learn about football alongside family and friends. The day will feature former Chiefs players, the Kansas City Glory women’s football team, and interactive activities such as games, equipment try-ons, and throwing instruction. Participants will also have the chance to engage with expert explanations of football rules and strategies, aimed at building confidence and knowledge among female attendees.
Carlo hopes that the event will spark ongoing conversations and educational opportunities for women in sports, potentially leading to future events focusing on other sports like the World Cup or baseball. The goal is to empower women to ask questions and feel more comfortable engaging in discussions about sports, ultimately creating a supportive and knowledgeable community of female sports fans in the Kansas City area.
