Teen questioned by police over threats prior to being charged with killing 4 at US school

In a tragic turn of events, a 13-year-old boy who had previously been investigated for online threats of a school shooting opened fire at Apalachee High School outside Atlanta, killing four people and injuring nine. The teen has been charged as an adult in the deaths of two students and two instructors. The school resource officers were able to apprehend him within minutes of the shooting.

Investigations into the incident revealed that the boy had been interviewed over a year ago based on anonymous tips received by the FBI but was not arrested due to lack of evidence. The FBI narrowed down the threats but referred the case to the sheriff’s department in Jackson County. The teen had denied making any online threats during the initial investigation.

The shooting has once again reignited debates about gun control and school safety in the United States. With numerous mass shootings having occurred this year alone, the incident in Winder serves to highlight the urgent need for action to prevent such tragedies in the future.

The community came together for a vigil in Jug Tavern Park to mourn the victims and seek solace. Students and residents expressed their shock and shared their experiences during the traumatic event. As the investigation continues, authorities will work to determine how the teen obtained the weapon used in the shooting. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of gun violence on schools and communities.
