The Kansas volleyball team continued their unbeaten streak in the 2024 season by sweeping in-state rival Wichita State in a sellout match at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena. Senior outside hitter Ayah Elnady led the Jayhawks with 14 kills, while middle blocker Toyosi Onabanjo and London Davis also contributed to the win. Setter Camryn Turner posted a double-double with 36 assists and 10 digs.
Despite Wichita State keeping the second and third sets close, KU managed to pull ahead with strong rallies and key plays. The Jayhawks outperformed the Shockers with a .264 hitting percentage compared to .130. First-year players Heidi Devers and Zoey Burgess also made significant contributions to the team’s success.
Head coach Ray Bechard commended the team for their ability to overcome challenges and credited the home crowd for their support. The Jayhawks are now 4-0 and will be facing Marquette and Western Michigan before a week-long break.
