Animal Control Officers in Kansas City are currently working to solve the mystery of how three stray goats ended up in a popular public park called Berkley Riverfront Park. The goats were rounded up by officers and taken to a caged area behind KC Pet Project, referred to as “The Farm.”
Two of the goats were kept by the Pet Project for a week before being adopted out to new homes, while a third goat has remained at The Farm. The Animal Services officers are now trying to determine who owns the goats and if any of them have gone missing from nearby farms or animal reserves.
One of the goats has a yellow ear tag, and efforts are being made to understand its significance. Some eyewitnesses have reported that some of the goats appear to be limping, prompting Animal Services to ensure that they receive proper care.
In July, Port KC brought in goats to help maintain the park’s grass, but they have confirmed that these stray goats are not part of their group. Port KC is now working with the USDA to identify the owners of the stray goats.
The main priority for Animal Services is the well-being of the goats and ensuring that they are not injured while in the park. If any injuries are found, they will be treated by a veterinarian. The investigation into how these goats ended up at Berkley Riverfront Park continues.
