Suspect in deadly hit-and-run crash on Truman Road wanted by police

A tragic hit-and-run crash in Kansas City late Saturday night has left one person dead, prompting an investigation by the Kansas City Police Department. The incident occurred at the Truman Road and Manchester Trafficway intersection just after 7 p.m.

Preliminary findings suggest that a Chevrolet HHR and a Nissan Altima experienced mechanical issues and pulled over in the westbound inside lanes of Truman Road Bridge. The drivers of both cars were waiting for assistance when a Jeep Grand Cherokee speeding westbound collided with the Nissan from behind. The impact propelled the Nissan into the Chevy, injuring the driver who was standing outside. Tragically, the front-seat passenger of the Nissan, who was unrestrained, lost their life at the scene. The driver of the Chevy was unharmed.

The driver of the Jeep fled the scene on foot, and law enforcement is actively searching for the individual. This incident marks the 63rd fatal crash of the year, compared to 60 last year. The investigation into the hit-and-run crash is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
