Russia has taken control of the settlement of Lozuvatske in eastern Ukraine, according to reports from the Russian defense ministry. The region has been a focal point of Russia’s advance through eastern Ukraine. Despite ongoing attacks on port infrastructure, the Ukrainian maritime corridor transported 60 million tonnes of cargo in the last 11 months. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Ukraine in August, marking his first visit since Russia’s invasion. Ukrainian forces are considering using more camouflage tactics to counter the increasing threat of ballistic strikes by Russia. The EU’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, has warned that Russia’s war in Ukraine is an existential threat to Europe and urged China to support the peace process to end the conflict.
Additionally, a Ukrainian court has remanded an 18-year-old man in custody over the murder of a nationalist former lawmaker, Iryna Farion. Ukrainian forces shot down four attack drones and one missile fired by Russia in overnight attacks. The governor of the Bryansk region in Russia reported a “massive” drone attack, with 22 unmanned aircraft being intercepted and destroyed. Ukrainian missile forces also struck a Russian military airfield in Crimea.
