The University of Kansas is moving forward with a $450 million renovation project for the David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, with the first phase set for completion by August 2025. The second phase, which includes revamping the east stands and potentially the south end of the stadium, is still in the planning stages. KU is nearing its fundraising goal of $250 million for phase one, and discussions are underway for phase two. Athletic director Travis Goff mentioned the importance of fundraising and partnerships with developers to tackle the east side of the stadium. The goal is to keep the Jayhawks in their new stadium and avoid returning to Kansas City for games. Goff also mentioned the possibility of reduced capacity during phase two construction, depending on the approach taken. The project aims to enhance the fan experience and accommodate more fans in the future. Once completed, the renovated stadium will provide a state-of-the-art venue for KU football games. Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses.
