TikTok sensation Chris Olsen claims he has been subject to intimate image abuse

Comedic content creator Chris Olsen shared in a tearful video on TikTok that sexually explicit images of him were being circulated on social media without his consent, in what is known as intimate image abuse or “revenge porn.” Olsen, who has over 13 million followers, first became aware of the images four years ago and initially didn’t want to address the situation publicly. The images were first posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) and despite asking the user to take them down, they were shared and saved by others, leading to ongoing abuse. Olsen’s video has been viewed nearly 4 million times, with him expressing the violation and abuse he has endured.

The issue of nonconsensual pornography and image-based sexual abuse is prevalent on social media, with deepfakes and real images being circulated without consent. Laws prohibiting revenge porn exist in every state except Massachusetts and South Carolina. Olsen’s video received support from viewers, with content creator Jax among those offering encouragement.

Research shows that 1 in 8 Americans using social media have been targeted by nonconsensual pornography, with women more likely to be victims than men. Olsen urged his followers to avoid sharing sexually explicit images without consent and highlighted the damaging impact of contributing to a culture of abuse. Despite facing this violation, Olsen called for a more creative way to express dislike rather than committing a crime.
