Kansas City Police Department detectives are currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday afternoon in the area of E. 69th Terrace and Brooklyn Avenue. The shooting, which was reported just before 3 p.m., resulted in the death of one individual. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man unresponsive on the sidewalk in front of a residence, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim had an altercation with an unknown suspect or suspects at the location, which escalated into gunfire resulting in the victim being struck. The suspect or suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Detectives are currently working at the scene to collect evidence and speak with witnesses to piece together what happened.
